Established in 1969, Watcon soon gained an exemplary reputation for its high-quality roofing and its innovative approach to the waterproofing marker. Planned expansion with the same degree of attention to detail and recognition of the needs of the market, saw the addition of the highly successful Painting and Renovations Division six years later, followed at the turn of the century with the formation of the Interior Decorating Division.

Rising Damp

Rising damp is a condition that can affect buildings, where moisture from the ground travels upward through the walls, floors, and other parts of a structure. This phenomenon occurs due to capillary action, where water is drawn up through porous building materials like bricks or concrete.
Signs of rising damp include:
Damp Patches: Visible damp patches on lower parts of walls.
Peeling Paint or Wallpaper: Paint and wallpaper may start to bubble or peel away.
Tide Marks: Noticeable marks or stains at the height the moisture reaches.
Salt Deposits: White powdery deposits can be left behind as moisture evaporates.
Mold and Mildew: Growth of mold or mildew due to increased humidity.
Preventing or remedying rising damp usually involves improving drainage around the building, installing or repairing a damp-proof course (DPC), and possibly using a damp-proof membrane to prevent moisture ingress. It's advisable to consult a professional to accurately diagnose and treat rising damp.
